It seems like an eternity since I last posted to this blog. A new year has begun!
First off, I want to congratulate those Gator fans out there! We have tv in our chu (combined housing unit..."1/3 of a trailer") through the Armed Forces Network. I woke up about 3 times and turned the tv on (mute for my roommate's sake) and checked in on the game. For me, it went like this: Gators 7 OK 0; Gators 14 OK 7; Gators 14 OK 14; Gators 17 OK 14; Gators with the ball and about 7 minutes left; Final score of Gators 24 OK 14. Those are the times I looked in on the game. The last peek was when I arrived at my office and watched my Jacksonville tv on my computer in Iraq (through my Slingbox). It's great that I can do that. However, my friend at home (Hi, Ella) is a little disturbed that I turn the tv on at 4am Jacksonville time sometimes.

I am settling in at my primary job of instructing at Baghdad Signal University. I should teach my first class in about 2 weeks. So far, I've been observing/learning more about the computers and particular equipment that we teach here and doing some "assistant instructing". Our students have even included a general in the past.
Every now and then we hear sounds that make us wonder if something has exploded, but I think it has all been "controlled" by US or Iraqi forces, not the insurgents.
Most of my days will continue to begin about 0630 (6:30am) and end about 2000 (20hundred; 8pm) with classes, studying, and a meeting or two. They included a lot of walking and/or bicycling! I hope to get a full day off starting this weekend. Sometimes it will be Saturday, and I can volunteer to help the Iraqi scouting program.
It's going to be harder to post much activity most days, since the routine does not normally change much. I do get to see Tess and her "dad" (Justin's grandfather) occasionally...hopefully in the next 2 days.
My best goal is to have new pictures to share. So enjoy these. They are all from Camp Buehring, Kuwait, in November.
Have a great 2009!! See video below. I'm in the middle somewhere. It's practice in Kuwait.
